Journey Into Your Future

Prepare for your New Year with the wisdom of living your best life.  Lessons for today inspired by ancient Eastern Wisdom

This program begins just before the beginning of a new year. The first session in December will provide a context for using the holidays for a deep reflection on your life journey and the opportunities that life has for you. In January and February the subsequent 6 sessions will draw on an Eastern way of looking at the world from a very different context than Western culture to open up our choices in our lives, work, and living.

Your Journey Into Wholeness experience will bring wisdom inspired by the stories of the ancient Chinese Five Element acupuncture tradition, and explore new and relevant choices for us today, including resilience, meaning, health, flow, and sustaining our power of taking care in a changing world.

Upcoming Programs
Reading the World

Reading – in this program – from reading books and text to reading the world, is a conversation about what matters to you. We must let go of reading as acquiring information to engaging in reading conversations to see, think, feel, and act in new ways. To see new worlds, possibilities, and commitments for our own living and contributing. In this journey you will explore differing virtues of different media, the unique value of conversations with texts, and how they enable us to grow our worlds, powers, and possibilities.

Generative Human Being

Human beings are generative in that we produce outcomes from our actions. But we can be conscious of our powers to create and grow them, or just be on automatic. The generative human being is not a production machine, but a creator of meaning, value, beauty, and satisfaction as part of living a life with others. Explore your generative dimensions to either discover them, or fully grow them in. your actions, life, and living.

The Seven Blindspots

Bob Dunham discovered seven key blind spots of our Western culture in over forty years of developing the action skills to create and fulfill futures with others. He’s writing a book on how we can illuminate these blind spots for ourselves, and in this program will walk participants through how new illuminations will empower you in action, learning, meaning, courage and power, living a good life, choices, connection with others, and revealing the hidden powers in generative conversations. v

Creating a Future Where Everyone Thrives

The worlds and cultures that we live in as human beings are being created by the choices of people through cultural evolution. Since we are creating the world we are living in, with wisdom, we can design and create a better world. In this program, you will be introduced to examples of creating a better world, the challenges for doing so, and how you can contribute to joining with others to create a world in which everyone thrives.

Generative Human Intelligence - GenHI

Generative AI is a widely discussed topic these days, but generativity is an aspect of humans that’s been in conversations for centuries. It is generative human intelligence, beyond AI, that will enable us to create a healthy human world with meaning, value, and satisfaction. In this journey you will learn to recognize what makes us human and how generative human intelligence can lead us to wisdom, the path to a good life and healthy world.

The Ontological Tradition

This program looks at the traditions that have created the fields of ontological design, ontological coaching, generative leadership, and others. These historically new views of what a human being is, what action is, as well as value, life, other contexts have produced  meaningful and practical perspectives, practices, and new disciplines. In this journey you will be introduced to the history of thinking by leades in the tradition including Fernando Flores, Julio Olalla, Richard Heckler, Humberto Maturana, John Austin, and Bob Dunham. Each step of this journey will introduce you to  new thinking, seeing, and acting in your own life journey.

The Coming Wave - AI and HI

AI is a wave of change sweeping over the world. As with every major innovation, it presents us with questions of how to engage with this new world. In this journey, we’ll explore the conversations going on about how to cope with and use AI and it’s impact in the world. How it affects major domains such as education and media will shift what kinds of human beings are being developed, so we will look at how a view of Human Intelligence will support our adapting to the world of AI will conserving what makes us human.

Adulthood - The Art of Taking Care

What is it to be an adult? And achieve value, satisfaction, and meaning in life as well as the pragmatic skills of navigating and creating one’s life with other. Based on original work by Fernando Flores, this program will explore the essentials of adulthood to enable us to review and assess our own contexts of being adults, and how to support young people into the concerns and skills of healthy adulthood.

Coming Together - The Commons

This journey is an exploration of how to live with others in a diverse world in which we share and compete for resources, power, and living spaces. How do we manage what is common to share it well, rather than slide into zero-sum competition where a gain by one party has to be a loss by another. How do we grow the commons, instead of squabble over it? You will be invited to explore your own situations and views to see how we each can contribute to healthier commons and community.

SELPH - Our Human Life Journey

In our current Western culture the study of important aspects of being human and of life are often addressed as separate pieces, such as learning is done with understanding concepts with no inclusion of body, emotions, or spirit. How do we develop a more integrated view and skill to fashion wholeness in our understandings, actions, and experiences? In this journey we will explore how somatics, emotions, language, practice, and history give us just such an integrated view of ourselves, of others, and being human. You’ll explore this by applying it to yourself and others in your life as openings for new actions, conversations, and possibilities in your actions, work, and life.

Facing Hate

The world is seeing an increase in public hate speech, acts, and cultural moods. If we don’t have an understanding of what hate is, where it comes from, and how to address it, we can only hope to avoid it. But history shows that hate can infect whole nations, cultures, and eras. This journey is an exploration of these questions with the intent to open possibilities for actions that will lead people out of hate into paths of responsible sharing of the world with others.
